Dear FUMC Family,

I hope this email finds you well.  I have several important things to cover today……so I will get right to it.

Here is what I will cover in today’s email:

1.  This Sunday @ FUMC…….Don’t Forget Joint Sunday School Gathering 

So often life brings us to our knees.  We worry about school, friends, jobs, children, grandchildren, and money. Our society tells us all the time if we just get more “stuff” we will be happy….and if you just look at our lives you can tell that theory doesn’t work.  We turn on the 6 o’clock news and all we see and hear is bad news.  It is enough to make you wonder….”are we ever going to be happy again?” 

In large part our happiness is up to us.  Joy, happiness, peace…..it comes from within.  Now that doesn’t mean we create our own happiness by surrounding ourselves with stuff! What it does mean, however, is that we are called to find joy in what we already have….Christ Jesus our Lord.   Join us this Sunday @ FUMC as we explore the joy we are meant to have in the journey of faith.

Also, please remember, we will have a joint Adult Sunday School Gathering in the fellowship hall to honor Mariellyn Dunlap from Martin Methodist College.  Mariellyn served at the Center For Church Leadership for two years as in intern….and during that time she has been tremendously faithful to our congregation.   We are asking that you bring breakfast foods and plan to join us as we honor Mariellyn and spend some time fellowshipping with one another.

2.  Called Church Conference Tonight

I want to remind you one last time about our Called Church Conference tonight regarding the possible purchase of the Hunter Smith Building as a future annex of FUMC.  We will gather in the fellowship hall at 6:00 p.m. at which time we will present the work of the Long Range Planning Committee, open the meeting for discussion, and then vote.  All members of FUMC are invited to vote on this important issue.  Childcare will be available.

If you are interested in walking through the Hunter Smith Building prior to the Church Conference, please be in the fellowship hall at 5:00 p.m. at which time we will take you through the building.

Please plan to be here tonight for this important….but exciting….meeting at FUMC.

3.  Don’t Forget…..2^nd Harvest Tomorrow

We are gearing up for a big day tomorrow as once again we host the 2^nd Harvest Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry.  We are asking you to gather at 8:00 a.m. to help set up and we hope to be finished handing out the food by 1 or 1:30 p.m.   Dress comfortably and be ready for a great day of service.  

DON’T FORGET…..WE NEED BOTTLED WATER!  You can bring bottled water to the fellowship hall tonight when you come to Church Conference.

4.  2 Home Communion Servers Needed for August 2

Serving Home Communion is a great way for you to love God with your heart.  Next Month (August 2) we will offer home communion to all our shut-ins and residents of our healthcare facilities.  We currently have several signed up to serve….but we still need two more volunteers.

If you are willing to serve Home Communion on Sunday, August 2, please email Cheryl Wood at cheryl@fumcpulaski.com  

5.  Adult Fall Mission Trip Dates Now Available

Each fall we offer an Adult Mission Trip over a long weekend.  This year we are excited to announce we are planning two of these trips.  Shane Woodard, our mission coordinator, has put together 5 possible dates.  We are asking those of you interested in attending one of these mission trips to email Shane with your preference.  We will then pick the two most popular weekends and coordinate the trip. 

The fall Mission Trip will be done through Mt. T.O.P. and all home repairs will be in Grundy County.   This trip is open to anyone 18 yrs and older.  No experience is necessary….just a willing heart.

Here are the possible dates:

Oct. 1-4

Oct. 8-11

Oct. 15-18

Oct. 22-25

Oct. 29-Nov. 1
