 Dear FUMC Family,

I hope this email finds you experiencing a meaningful Holy Week.  We are working on the final preparations for our Good Friday and Easter services….but more about that below.  I have several things I want to share with you in today’s in email.  Here is what I will cover:

1. This Sunday @ FUMC
2. Adult Mission Trip Organizational Meeting Tonight, 5:30 p.m.
3. Good Friday Service, 7 p.m.
4. MMC Spring Concert, April 19, 4 p.m.
5. VBS Date Set….Plan to Volunteer Now!

1. This Sunday @ FUMC

This Sunday @ FUMC we have an excellent worship service planned for you.  We will confront the story of the resurrection through the eyes of those who arrived at the empty tomb first that morning.  Did the experience change them?  Better yet, does it change you?   Easter is meant to be much more than a “once a year” celebration…..it is meant to be a defining moment in our lives.  Easter is meant to change who we are, what is important to us, and what we live for!

Join us for a magnificent Easter celebration…..and be prepared to be changed by the resurrected Christ!

We are anticipating record crowds for our Easter services so plan to arrive early.  Also, please remember to greet our visitors and guest warmly.  For many this will be their first experience at FUMC and we want them to feel welcome and to know that FUMC is the place to be.  If you see an unfamiliar face greet them, offer to help them find a seat or help them find their way around our building.

2.  Adult Mission Trip Organzational Meeting Tonight, 5:30 p.m.

Tonight we will host an organizational meeting for our upcoming Adult Mission Trip.  We are planning a mission trip to Jonesville, Virginia April 23-26.  We will do emergency home repair with the Appalachian Service Project.

At this point we have a few slots open for this trip…but it is filling up quickly.  If you are planning to attend our mission trip, or you are interested in learning more about it, please plan to join us tonight at 5:30 in the fellowship hall.

3.  Good Friday Service, 7 p.m.

Tomorrow night at 7 p.m. we will have our traditional Good Friday Service in the Sanctuary.  During this service we will read the passion narrative (the final hours of Jesus’ life) and our choirs will perform.  This is one of the most moving and powerful worship services we offer throughout the year.  In addition to our chancel choir and bell choirs, T.G. Engel, a classical guitarist from MMC, will be our guest musician.

I want you to make a special effort to attend this service.   It will last just under an hour…..and I assure you it will change your Easter.   If you will attend you will be blessed by this worship experience.

4.  Martin Methodist Choir Spring Concert, April 19, 4 p.m.

Next Sunday the Martin Methodist College Concert Choir will perform their spring concert in our sanctuary at 4 p.m.   We are honored to host this talented group and want to extend a special invitation to you, our congregation.  We anticipate an overflow crowd, so plan to arrive early for this special event.

5.  VBS Date Set….Plan to Volunteer Now!

Vacation Bible School @ FUMC is set for June 2 - 5 from 5:30 - 8:00.  This is a Tuesday through Friday…..and we need volunteers!  In addition to our traditional VBS classes and work areas, we are planning pre-school class this year.

We will hold an informational meeting on Monday, April 27, in the fellowship hall at 5:30 p.m.  All those willing to use their hands and hearts to love God by working this year’s VBS are encouraged to attend this meeting.  VBS is vital to our church’s children’s program….and it is only successful if you volunteer to help.  Plan to be a part of VBS this year!

That is about it for today.  Again, I hope you are having a meaningful Holy Week.  Don’t forget, we will have our Mid-Day Devotional and Communion Service both today and tomorrow at 12:15.

I look forward to seeing you on Easter for what will be a magnificent worship experience @ FUMC…..

Wayne
