Weekly Email #48
2009-04-30 14:18 Dear FUMC Family,
What an exciting time it is to be a part of FUMC! Every meeting I attend, every worship service I participate in, each Wednesday Night @ FUMC I am at…I find myself overwhelmed by the sense of excitement in this place. That excitement, of course, comes from you and your willingness to become Deeply Committed Christians. FUMC really is the place to be. Before I share with you a few of the opportunities you have to grow at FUMC I want to remind you we will be hosting the MMC Baccalaureate Service on Friday at 4 p.m. and you are certainly welcome to attend. Here is what I will cover in today’s email: 1. This Sunday @ FUMC 2. United Methodist Men’s Yard Sale 3. Church-Wide Picnic Wednesday, May 13 4. V.B.S June 2-5……Register Online to Volunteer or to Sign-Up Your Child! 1. This Sunday @ FUMC Do you ever feel overwhelmed by life? Do you ever feel as though you don’t know who God is? Do you ever feel alone? This Sunday @ FUMC we will be reminded that the “restoration” our souls seek is found in the promise that God is with us and even in those moments when we feel we don’t know God….God knows us! It is Christ who heals and saves….it is the good shepherd who brings comfort to our lives…..it is in a deeply committed relationship with Jesus Christ that we find the rest we are seeking! If you have ever found yourself struggling with life and felt like there was no where to go to escape the pressure, then plan to be with us in worship this Sunday as we discover true “restoration” in the Good Shepherd. At our 10:30 a.m. service we will have the privilege of welcoming Michelle and Kenzie Herd. Michelle is transferring her membership from First Baptist Church and her daughter, Kenzie, will be baptized and join our congregation through a profession of faith. Plan to be with us as we celebrate Kenzie’s decision to make Jesus Christ Lord of her life and welcome her and her mother to FUMC. 2. United Methodist Men’s Yard Sale I want to remind you once again the UMM have set May 8-9 as the date for their annual yard sale. Each year they use this money to fund several mission projects and ministries within the church and community. They are asking you donate your items to be sold in the yard sale (please note: they will not be selling clothes. Take clothing to Matthew’s). If you need help moving your donations or large items call any of the following men and they will arrange a time to pick it up. Please plan to support our UMM! Steve White…..363-0777 Clyde Miller…….363-6028 Edwin Moore…..363-0905 Pat Schultz……293-4831 Chuck Paysinger…..363-3291 Charles Jenkins…..363-4324 3. Church-Wide Picnic Wednesday, May 13 Next Wednesday (May 6) we will conclude our Wednesday Nights @ FUMC for the summer. We will, however, gather on the grounds of FUMC on Wednesday, May 13, from 5-6:15 for a church-wide picnic. We will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and all you need to do is show up and be ready for a fun evening. We will have games set up for the kids and adults….or, if you like, you can just sit around and catch up with friends. Whatever you prefer……plan to be with us on Wednesday, May 13, from 5-6:15 for a Church-Wide Picnic @ FUMC. Remember…..you don’t need to bring anything…….but feel free to invite a friend! 4. V.B.S June 2-5……Register Online to Volunteer or to Sign-Up Your Child! Vacation Bible School 2009 is set for June 2-5 and we couldn’t be more excited. We had a great group show up for our organizational meeting….and several more who couldn’t make it but volunteered to help. Thank you for your tremendous support. We are excited to offer you the opportunity to register your child….or even volunteer to help…online. You can go to our website at www.fumcpulaski.com and follow the link to our VBS page. There you will be able to sign up to help, register your child, or just discover some details about this year’s VBS. That is about it for this week. We have some tremendous opportunities for you to grow in your faith at FUMC this summer. I hope you plan to stay active and make FUMC a part of you life this summer as together we become Deeply Committed Christians. See you on Sunday! Wayne
