Children's Ministry

Mission
To ensure each child is cared for and loved as Christ loves.

In our Children’s ministry, we strive to meet children with safe, engaging, and age-appropriate ways to get to know God through Bible stories, serving neighbors, and relationships with leaders who are walking their own paths with Christ. All programs and activities are open to the community.

We follow a Keeping Ministry Safe policy standard.   All of our teachers, leaders, and volunteers have background checks and training to ensure they follow safe sanctuary practices.

Music

Our Music Ministries are led by our Director of Music Ministries, Clare Ray, and our Accompanist, Ms. Sherry McFall.

In our music ministry, we strive for excellence in all aspects of worship. In the planning, rehearsing, live worship, nursing home ministries, handbell choir, children’s choir, youth praise band, and adult chancel choir, we pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide and direct so that all the glory will be given to God the Father through Jesus Christ His Son.

Early service singers lead worship during our 8:15 AM service.

Our Chancel Choir leads our 10:30 AM worship service.

Our Early Service Singers and our Chancel Choir are open for all who would like to join.

Children Choir rehearses on Wednesday nights from 5:30pm- 6:30pm, followed by the Chancel Choir at 6:35-7:35 PM.

Annually, the choir performs an extensive Christmas program and Easter program with dates TBA.

Youth Ministry

We have an extraordinary group of young people in our church who are a part of our Youth Ministries. In this group, there are those who are beginning to grow in a new relationship with Christ and those who are deepening their walk with God.  We welcome all youth to take this journey together.

On Sunday mornings at 9:25 a.m. in the Abernathy Youth House, located behind the church, for Sunday School.

On Sunday evenings we meet at 5 pm. - 6:30 pm at the Abernathy Youth House for youth group.

The Table

The Table is a community event center hosted by First United Methodist Church.

The building is still a work in progress, but it has come a long way under the loving hands of this congregation. It is currently used to house Community RFD, to host contemporary worship services, and church-sponsored events. We look forward to continuing to expand our ministry using this space and to providing a place for the community to host their own events in the future.

Casual Worship at The Table will be at 6:00pm on the 3rd Sundays of each month in 2024.

Sunday Morning Worship

We invite you to join us on Sundays!  Two different styles of worship services take place in our beautiful sanctuary. If you love to worship with a more informal spirit, then you will want to choose the 8:15 a.m. hour. If you love the wonders of a beautiful pipe organ and a Chancel choir, then 10:30 a.m. is your hour. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m for ALL ages.

Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month in both worship services.  In the United Methodist Church, the Lord's Table is open to all.  Gluten-free wafers are available upon request.

If you are not able to join us physically but would like to listen to us in your home or car, you can tune in on your radio to WKSR FM 100.9 at our 10:30 am worship or Facebook Live during the 8:15 am and  10:30 am worship service.
